This is my second time revisiting this book series since I was 14years old, and I had forgotten how depressing the Thistledown massacre was. The incident involving the Thistledown family was very sad. Haha! No but seriously, amazing book series, and unbelievably righteous protagonist. Then, when lawful and decent men of the community try to restore balance and protect their own women from unwelcome intruders they, of course, are reprimanded and chastised by the liberal community. I like to imagine them rolling up in a beat up sedan blasting loud rap music and trying to whistle and fondle victimized farm girls. The battle in the Grove was epic though, I must say, it was especially amusing to visualize how ugly and crude and invasive the orcs were. It won the Surface 51 Award of Excellence at the 2015 Parkland College Graphic Design Student show.

It's hard to say what people like CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien would've actually thought about D&D Forgotten Realms novels.maybe they would have liked them and maybe not. This is a mock catalog designed for e.l.f. Montolio the blind ranger is an archetype that I think JRR Tolkien would've strongly approved of. The chapters involving Montolio Mooshie and Drizzt's time living with him is especially captivating and highly original (although I wonder if Bluster the Bear is a subtle reference paying homage to Beorn from the Hobbit). So too in our own world, stereotypes are not without a grain of truth, and patterns are noticeable about the origins of things and places. The prejudice dark elves endure is well earned. Dark elves face an unwelcome reception form surface-dwellers and goodly-races for a reason. All of that is true, and yet, the exception to the rule doesn't automatically discount or discredit the rule itself. And indeed Drizzt deserves to be rightfully acknowledged for his decency despite being an unfairly pre-judged dark elf. Yes, our beloved protagonist Drizzt is a fine stoic and righteous ranger. Although it is medieval-mythology themed fiction, I must say, there are some rather anthropology related themes in the world of Forgotten Realms. Thank you for uploading this magnificent piece of contemporary fiction.
